Luis Fonsi - No Me Doy Por Vencido

Filed under: Pop on Friday, June 19th, 2009 by Miguelito | 1 Comment

Luis Fonsi, born in Puerto Rico y later grown up in Orlando (Florida) is already a very well known latin pop star since 1998 with hits like “Quien te dijo eso”, “La Fuerza de mi Corazon”,  “Nada es para siempre” or “Estoy Perdido”.

His seventh studio album “Palabras del silencio” was released in August 2008 and has sold over 30.000 copies in the US within the first week and was also certified Oro (Gold) and Platinum by the RIAA for over 200.000 sales in the United States.

The first single of the album “No Me Doy Por Vencido” is Luis Fonsi’s biggest hit to date which reached #92 of the Top 100 Billboard Charts, #1 in the Latin Billboard Charts and #1 in the charts of Puerto Rico. Actually it´s no wonder because it´s a romantic ballad with some mexican influences which won´t get out of your head for some time. Great work by Luis Fonsi.

Tito El Bambino - El Amor

Filed under: Cumbia, Pop, R&B, Reggaeton on Thursday, June 11th, 2009 by Miguelito | 1 Comment

One of the biggest hits of the former reggaeton duo “Hector y Tito” was Baila Morena in 2003 which had a huge impact in the reggaeton scene. After six studio albums “Hector y Tito” had decided to go seperate ways in 2006 to start solo careers.

Tito El Bambino released in March 2009 his third album called “El Patron” which includes the hit single “El Amor”. Although the song does not follow the reggaeton origins it could be closest described as a mixture of Pop, Cumbia and a bit of Reggaeton and Salsa.

“El Amor” has already topped the Bill Board Latin Charts and stays in the top ten of many other Latin American Charts, not only because of the unique sound, but also because of the catchy and romantic lyrics. Let´s hope with this song Tito El Bambino will conquer the world.

Carlos Baute & Marta Sanchez - Colgando En Tus Manos

Filed under: Pop on Sunday, June 7th, 2009 by Miguelito | 2 Comments

Carlos Baute, famous singer and actor from Venezuela, released in 2008 his hit album “De Mi Puño y Letra” only to follow up a collectors edition with a new version of “Colgando En Tus Manos” as well as two extra tracks and two remixes.

I already found the song “Colgando En Tus Manos” very catchy and at first when I heard the new version together with Marta Sanchez (a well known singer in Spain), I had to get used to it. But after listening for a while I really fell in love with it and the two voices match perfectly together.

“Colgando En Tus Manos” is already at number 2 in Spain and in the top ten in lots of latin american charts. A great song with romantic lyrics which come from the heart.

Filed under: Pop on Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 by Miguelito | 1 Comment

Jesse y Joy are a quite new pop band from Mexico and their debut album Esta Es Mi Vida (This is my life) came out in August 2006. To date the mexican duo has sold over 100.000 copies of it in Mexico and the first two singles Espacio Sideral and Ya No Quiero were Top Ten in the mexican charts.

Llegaste Tú (You came) was the 3rd release from Esta Es Mi Vida and is so far the most successful song of the pop band. The romantic ballad reached number 1 in the mexican charts (Source: Los40.com.mx) and with Jesse y Joys promo tour in Spain this June they might enter the spanish charts pretty soon as well.

RBD - Inalcanzable

Filed under: Pop on Sunday, June 1st, 2008 by Miguelito | 1 Comment

The mexican pop group RBD (pronounced Rebelde) was born out of the Telenovela with the same name in 2004 and has become very popular in whole Latin America, the United States and in Spain. So far they have released 8 albums and gained several Billboard Latin and Premium Juventud Awards.

Their latest studio album Empezar desde Cero (Begin from zero) was released on November 20, 2007 and sold to date 1 million copies worldwide. The first single Inalcanzable (unreachable) was number one in the Latin American Top 40 and also number 4 in Spain and number 2 in Mexico.

Inalcanzable is a wonderful and romantic ballad and would deserve it to be a success in non spanish speaking countries, too.

David Bisbal - Torre de Babel (Wisin y Yandel Remix)

Filed under: Pop, Reggaeton on Saturday, March 8th, 2008 by Miguelito | 3 Comments

David Bisbal - Torre de Babel (Wisin y Yandel Remix)From David Bisbals latest studio album Premonicion (which was released in 2006) is the song Torre de Babel (Tower of Babel) which was included in three different versions: the Original Mix (David Bisbal sings alone), the Reggaeton Mix (David Bisbal sings together with Wisin y Yandel) and the Wisin y Yandel Remix.

Only the Original Mix and the Reggaeton Mix were strongly promoted but in my opinion the Wisin y Yandel Remix is the best of all three. Wisin y Yandel recorded Torre de Babel together with David Bisbal and invented a new chorus “Solo tu decides to final” (only you decide your ending) which made it to a fabulous Reggaeton song.

Actually, there is no video clip for the Wisin y Yandel Remix of Torre de Babel but I edited the original video clip and uploaded the video on Youtube. Enjoy it!

Alexis & Fido - 5 Letras

Filed under: Reggaeton on Thursday, January 31st, 2008 by Miguelito | 3 Comments

Video Clip Alexis & Fido 5 LetrasAlexis & Fido are another great Reggaeton duo from Puerto Rico who already have released 3 albums so far: The Pitbulls (2005), Los Reyes Del Perreo (2006) and Sobrenatural (2007).

From the latest album Sobrenatural (Supernatural) is the song 5 Letras (5 words) which was released as a single and reached the top positions in the Puerto Rican and American Latin Charts. It´s no surprise because it has a catchy rhythm and chorus.

Alexis & Fido were close friends with Reggaeton artists Wisin y Yandel and they have helped each other with their careers. I’m sure Alexis & Fido will follow the successful footsteps of their close friends.

Darlene Love - All Alone On Christmas

Filed under: Pop on Monday, December 24th, 2007 by Miguelito | 1 Comment

Video Clip All Alone On Christmas Darlene LoveOne of my favourite christmas movies is Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York starring Machauley Culkin. The scenes where “Kevin” is dealing with the hotel manager of the Plaza and later with the two bandits always make me laugh all over again.

And the movie features also some great christmas music: one of my favorite christmas tracks All Alone On Christmas by Darlene Love. It surprises me that until now the producers of this great song haven’t released this as a single before christmas time because I think it would be very successful. Last Christmas by Wham is released as a single every year before christmas and it always sells like nuts. So why not try this with Darlene Love’s All Alone On Christmas?

Anyway, with this song I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
